A whistlepig could get used to this

After a few days of rest, relaxation (and no doubt tears) at the The Skytop resort in the Poconos, G-Hog returned to the bright lights of the megalopolis that he and his Shadow now call home. And why not, because limos are nice. After this photo was taken, the marmot and his entourage filed up to his penthouse to order takeout from Morimoto and watch Scarface five times in a row.

Bog water sales soar

Really? Seriously?

A murky liquid that contains acidic peat and swamp thing stuff we don’t even wanna think about is actually popular, now that two bog-swilling rodents are famous?

We are all sheep.

I hear the big boys are scrambling to bottle their own Bog Water. Guess who the spokesperson is gonna be?

It's six more weeks of Marky Mark

Ouch.

A day after Gosling dropped out of Peter Jackson’s newest opus, and rumors swirled about Shadow possible sinking his teeth into the part, Mark Wahlberg has announced he’s taking over the role. Marky, who has shot The Happening (M. Night’s latest, um, “thriller,”) Invincible, The Italian Job and Shooter in the Philadelphia area, will arrive tomorrow. His scenes are set to begin later in the week, so the six-week shoot shouldn’t be postponed much.

That high-pitched wailing sound that reverberated from Pennsylvania Dutch Country to the Hamptons? Shadow and G-Hog are not taking this well.

Making no bones

So let me get this straight -- Ryan Gosling drops out of The Lovely Bones the day before filming begins because of “creative differences?” Yeah, yeah, the 26-year-old showed up to the Main Line 20 pounds overweight, but you gotta think Peter Jackson, of all the directors, would find it in his heart to give the Full Nelson star another chance. Right?

Uh, no. Gosling packed up and left Malvern over the weekend. Locals say he jet skiied his troubles away at Raystown Lake, where he also snagged some Lake Trout with Rachel McAdams.

In totally related news, Shadow met with the Lord of the Rings director at the Chaddsford winery on Sunday.

Gimme all the Big Red chewing gum you got...

Because, you know, I don’t have very good breath on account of my being a rodent. A rodent who likes to drink lots and lots of Starbucks coffee. And did I mention I’m taking a secret meeting with Peter Jackson at the Palm in about 15 minutes? You can throw a Complex in there too.

Main man

The Main Line has a precious new resident for the next few months.

Academy Award-winning director Peter Jackson is set to start shooting his film adaptation of The Lovely Bones this week in lovely Malvern, PA.

Maybe that’s why G-Hog & Shadow have recently been seen toting around copies of the award-winning book...

Groundhog Crossing (the street)

“Hey, G-Hog.”

“Yeah Shadow?”

“You know how in the big city, everybody looks at you in the eye, trying to figure out if you’re someone famous? Then after a sec, they realize you’re a big movie star?”

“Ayup.”

"Dude, she totally just looked over here."

Just another salad day for the hogs, in Williamsport, PA, for the Little League World Series.

Local realtors say Groundhog and Shadow checked out some some of the Victorian manses on “Millionaires Row” but didn’t find a place that “felt like home.” Maybe that’s because their home back in Punxsy is the stump of a deciduous tree.

They eventually found this cozy bistro along the sparkling Susquehanna River and made the local eye candy very uncomfortable.

Animal attraction

It isn’t a party until the rodents show up.

Last night’s soiree at the Walnut Room in Center City Philly was no different -- once Groundhog and Shadow appeared with their new agent, the lounge caught fire. Music bumped. Tail-tugging ensued.

Seriously. Look. Our photo is bursting into flames.

A star is born

Make that two stars. Yup, this Plush Insider was lucky enough to catch the movie debut of Groundhog Crossing last night, and I gotta say: it’s actually pretty good.

G-Hog is the most memorable face to hit the big screen since Clooney. But don’t let looks fool you. This isn’t just another pretty boy “actor” (anyone for a Matthew McConaughey film festival? Anybody?).

With the chops of Chaplain, Groundhog displayed a range of emotion from hope to fear, heartache to elation, without uttering a single word — or even changing his facial expression.

And his co-star, a dark, doppelganger figure, named “Shadow,” proved that sometimes, a single shadow can beam brighter than all the searchlights in front of the theater.

Get used to those bright lights, boys.
